Blind Measuring Guide

Check out our video below that will give you some helpful tips and hints when measuring for your new blinds at home!

What you will need

  • A tape measure.
  • A pen and piece of paper

Helpful tips

  • Take all your measurements in millimetres (mm) to the nearest 1mm.
  • Always look out for things like window handles or tiles. You’ll need to take their position into account to ensure a perfect fit.
  • All our blinds can be fitted on to the face of your window frame or wall, or into the top jamb. This gives you complete control over the positioning of your blind.
  • Please tell us if you want the controls to be on the left hand side of the blind or the right hand side (you will need to mark this down per blind).

If you have any questions about measuring your window, call 0800 483 638 or contact us.

You can choose to have your blind made to fit the inside of the jam of your window or it can hang on the outside architrave.

Measure inside

Inside fit

For an inside fit (the most popular and what we recommend), the measurement you need is from jamb to jamb. We will make your blind to fit into that space perfectly. There’s no need for you to make any adjustments because we allow for this. If you don’t measure from jamb to jamb and try and allow a space and then give us the measurement, your finished blinds will be too small.

How to measure

Follow these instructions if you want your blind to hang inside:

  1. Measure the width of the window from jamb to jamb in three places. Note down the shortest measurement – this is the one we’ll use.
  2. Measure the drop by taking the measurement from the top jamb to the bottom jamb (or window sill) in three places. Note down the shortest measurement.
  3. Send us the measurements and we’ll start manufacturing them right away!

NB: You will NOT need to make any adjustments to the width or length of your blind measurements. Let us do this!

Measure outside

Outside fit

For an outside fit, the measurement you need to take is from the outside edge of the architrave from side to side (as in the picture). We will make your blind exactly to these measurements.

How to measure

Follow these instructions if you want your blind to hang outside:

  1. Measure the exact width of where you’d like your blind to be (architrave to architrave). Note down the measurement.
  2. Measure the exact drop from the top of where you want your blind to be to the bottom. Note down the measurement.
  3. Send us the measurements and we’ll start manufacturing them right away!

NB: Be sure to let us know if your measurement is where you are wanting the fabric to finish (this is called fabric finished size). If you don't specify that it is a fabric finish size we then take those measurements & make the deductions required to allow for the brackets & controls (outside fit)
